The legend of the squadron is so well known that most are fooled into believing that they already know the full story. This is far from the truth as the authors illustrate time and again. German researcher Andreas Wachtel has lead investigations at the scenes of the many Lancaster crash sites, not only of the dams raid itself, but also later operations. By interviewing eye witnesses, examining German records and visiting the sites he has added new detail and given new insight into the story.
