The aim of this book is to show a range of the many aircraft of all types, which have been preserved around the globe. The definition of the term preserved in the context of this book is a broad one. The aircraft recorded are either in a museum, on display elsewhere, most notable as gate guardians at military bases or other facilities, or are examples kept in flying condition long after it would have been normal to retire them. The aircraft in this book can therefore either be static or still flying, as is the case with the many warbirds and vintage civil light aircraft, which can be seen at airshows.
