Branch lines and secondary routes have always had a special appeal. This programme filmed by C. J. Barnard, Keith Christie, Harry Luff and Edwin Wilmshurst, recalls many such English byways in films made in the 1950s and ‘60s. The lines featured include those to Audley End, Hayling Island, Princeton, Stanmore, Swanage, Lymington, the M&GN system and the roadside tracks of the Wisbech & Upwell Tramway.
